I am going to start my mash-up with this video of what it looks like to be in a child beauty pageant and the process it takes to look like a doll. It also talks about what their parents want from their daughters while being in the pageant.
This video will serve as moving and audio communication. |
|
I will use the first few seconds that talks about children that have fake tans and where self-belief is everything. Mothers and daughters dream to win the pageants.
This video is moving and audio communication. |
|
Next I will show parts of this video that show the "most outrageous outfits" that children wear for their beauty pageants.
This video will be used as video and audio communication. It shows the outfits that children wear along with their mother's talking about the types of outfits they wear and how much they cost. |
|
This video shows a young child portraying Julia Roberts who is a prostitute in the movie Pretty Woman. This shows how far parents are going when putting their children in beauty pageants.
This video is also video and audio communication. |
|
In this video, a mother says how she doesn't think that what she does is wrong. She says how other people probably think that it is wrong and that she doesn't care what they think.
This video is being used as moving and audio communication. |
|
I may add in this video of older adults in a beauty contest back in the 1920s to show how far back these started and now it spread to little children as young as one.
This video is moving communication. I will play the song below "Barbie Girl" through this video since there is no audio and then throughout the next pictures. |
|
I am going to add this song while the four images above are being shown to show how they are basically barbies dressing up in a fantasy world and that they are fake dolls.
This song "Barbie Girl" by Aqua will be the audio for the images. |
This will be the turning point for my mash-up where I turn towards the ban of child beauty pageants. The first two images show people protesting. The third picture says how pageants subject kids to exposure that is not needed.
These two images are still images that are accompanied with the song below. |
|
The above two images and the third image here will all be accompanied with the song "We're Not Gonna Take It" by the Twisted Sisters. I feel that this fits perfectly with the protesters. They are not going to take these pageants existing anymore.
The picture serves as a still image while the YouTube song serves as audio for the images. |
|
After these videos and pictures, I am going to start this video at 0:28 seconds where Landon talks about the ban of kid beauty pageants in France. If you are under the age of 16 years old, it is illegal to be judged on physical appearances. He talks about Honey BooBoo and how young people and babies can win beauty pageants. He also brings up the point that when they grow up, they are going to have bad self-esteem.
This video is being used as moving and audio communication. It is also oral discourse because Landon is talking about why child beauty pageants should be banned. |
|
This video argues about whether child beauty pageants should be banned. Some say that they should and some say they shouldn't. One lady says that it sexualizes them and it teaches them that what they look like is more important. Another says that there are things more important that should be banned first before pageants.
These last two videos are used as repetend to show how they are implementing the ban of child pageants and starting to think about it in the United States. It is also used as moving and audio communication. |
|
This video shows how a mother is taking her five year old daughter to the US from Australia to compete in pageants. She says that she practices every day and night to win and has already competed in a dozen before. She already has a five thousand modeling contract in Australia, but she wants to go to Texas to win a ten thousand prize.
This video serves as audio and video communication. It is also oral discourse because a news channel is arguing over the controversy of child beauty pageants. |
|
I will end the mash-up with this video that gives reasons why child beauty pageants are not good for little girls.
This video is audio and video communication. |
