Draft One
It is around 3:30 in the afternoon and all I'm thinking about is the fact that I have to leave at 4:15 to go meet with a realtor to look at houses with my friends. Oh and I still need to shower and get ready. This probably isn't going to work, but I need to rush. I got out of the shower and was ready by 4:10 PM. Ask me how I got ready that fast because I have no idea how that happened.
If I take a shower before going outside, I will have wet hair because I am too lazy to dry it. If I go outside with wet hair, then I will get sick considering it is freezing out.
My two roommates and I stepped into the gross pee-smelling elevator in our apartments and headed out to Starbucks to meet our other friends. It is ice cold outside right now and all I'm wearing is yoga pants, Rowan University t-shirt, and a black North-face that is so old and so thin, I could feel the brisk air hitting my skin through it. We hopped into our friend Jackie's bright red colored Jeep and buckled up. Mind you, we are squished because its six of us in a car- so uncomfortable, but it's just for a the time being. "So where are we meeting him?" Jackie asked. We had no idea. We were new at this whole house hunting concept.
This was probably not the smartest idea considering we could have got in trouble for not wearing our seat belts since we squeezed us in the backseats. It is also not safe at all.
We arrived at our first house we were visiting and there was a guy picking up his dogs poop which made me want to throw up because it was right in front of us. Plus, he's on the lawn in front of this house and it's not even his. "Um, where are we supposed to park?" asked my friend Fallon. There are signs along the street saying "NO PARKING" so guess where we parked? Right there. There were no other spots anyway.
If he leaves his dogs poop there, then it will be incredibly rude since it is not his lawn.
Meanwhile as were sitting in the car waiting for the realtor to show up, Fallon called him up and asked where he was. "I am pulling up right now" he said to her on the phone. We all looked to our left and saw his car. "Is he a girl?" pondered Christina. We all died of laughter because he did look like a girl and his name is a girls name. Of course he's not a girl.
Be careful of what you think and be careful of what you speak out loud. You may hurt others feelings with your words that you might not have thought they heard.
We walked into the first house which looks TINY! We all said to each other "How are there six bedrooms in this shack?" We continued through the house and there was a living room of emptiness. We had a feeling that this house was going to be weird right from the beginning. We walked into the living room and there were the roommates, sitting on the couch in their pajamas, watching The Simpsons. Well hello there guys.
Watch what ever TV shows you want to watch. Do whatever you want. But if people were coming over to my house to check it out, then I probably would have been dressed and made the house presentable. Nothing is wrong with the Simpsons at all, just funny that they all were watching it together.
We all walked to the corner of the house where there were apparently three bedrooms. As we entered the first bedroom, we noticed that it was filthy and full of beer bottles, prescription medicines, and old bowls of cereal and milk crusted inside. We all looked at each other and said "There are shopping carts in the corner over there..." We were so confused as to who these people were living in this house.
No one should own shopping carts and have them in their bedrooms especially since they probably stole them and stealing is a NO NO!
On to the next room. We turned our backs and it was right there. This was the biggest bedroom out of all of them. Up above the window is a sign that reads "Always Kiss Me Goodnight." We all read it aloud and said "Awwwww!" This was adorable considering this is an all boys house. I wondered which roommate this bedroom belonged to.
Either this boy has a feminine side to him or he is really adorable and has a soft side to him. Other than that, he seems very sweet!
We quickly looked at the third bedroom in that corner and turned around because there was nothing special about that one. We walked through the empty living room again and we looked to our left and noticed something we didn't see when we walked in. I honestly do not know how we missed these huge, enormous signs popping out right in our face. We learned at that moment that the boys living here obviously worked at ShopRite. Why did they want these hung in their living room? The answer will never be known. That is when we realized where those shopping carts came from...
I have never met anyone with grocery store signs hung up in their living space. However, if that is what they prefer and what they like for decorations, then I cannot judge.
We continued on our HGTV home search and looked at the next house. "I dreamed a dream in time gone by, when hope was high, and life worth living!" blasted from the living room and we automatically thought that there are girls living there, but there were two boys lying on the couch watching Les Miserables together. Us, including the realtor, started laughing hysterically.
You cannot judge what others enjoy watching. If they want to watch this movie, then they have the right to do whatever they want. If you do whatever you want, then you shouldn't care what others think of you.
We hopped into Jackie's car again and were on our way following the realtor to our last house that we were visiting. We walked through the garage and into the living room and the first thing that we all noticed is the Christmas tree. It is currently the month of February, not December. I wondered why they still had their tree up. They joked with us saying that for next year, the tree will be up for Christmas for us if we live there.
Christmas in February? Who am I to judge? I have Christmas lights still hanging in my room. Do whatever makes you happy, even if that means having a Christmas tree up all year round.
We all walked through the hall way and he showed us the bathroom. A pink bathroom. Bright pink walls and shower curtains decorated this man's bathroom. He actually said he loves it. He also has a king bed so he described himself as "a princess with a king bed." I never heard that before. This guy seemed like a pretty cool guy, I must say.
I realized that I have been doing a lot of judging within my tweeting. This is something you SHOULD NOT do. Who cares if his bathroom is pink? He couldn't control it because that was the design of it before they lived in the house. If he likes it, then that is all that counts!
Then he brought us to the basement. THE BASEMENT OF DOOM. Just kidding, it was a pretty nice basement. They had a pong table and a pool table down there. I guess they are big party-goers because there were red cups everywhere. We entered into a bedroom that was down there and there were turtles in a tank! They were the cutest little turtles swimming around. I never heard of someone or met someone who owned turtles as pets, but it was pretty cool!
Whatever types of pets you have is your choice. If you want a monkey in your room, then have a monkey in your room. Do what makes you happy and have whatever pets that will make you happy also.
Unfortunately, this house is a bit expensive for our taste. The realtor did mention that we get to keep all of the furniture in the house which would be a plus, but in the end it was too expensive for all of us. I guess they will just have to keep searching for new tenants, especially us.
If you find a house that doesn't suit your needs, then don't just take it just to get a house. You need to do what will make you happy. If you don't, then you will never be happy. Don't give in to things just to make others happy. Sometimes, yes you can. But if in the end, you are not happy with your choices, then what is the point?
As we were heading out of the house through the garage, we noticed all of the pizza boxes. There were piles and piles of pizza boxes hanging around in there along with other furniture. I guess they didn't have time to bring the boxes to the curb? Pizza must be their favorite food. It is also mine, so maybe I should actually stay and get to know them better...
If you eat whatever you want, whenever you want, just be careful from the consequences. Taking care of your health is the most important. But then again, if you really like pizza, then you can eat as much! No one's stopping you.
On our way to the car to leave from our adventure of house hunting, the tenants in the house turned to the realtor and asked him if he was going to "First Friday" at Landmark this Friday. I have never been to the bar so I suspected that this was a big deal, especially since they were asking their realtor who is probably a father and husband and they are college students.
A realtor and his tenants going to the bar together is a real disharmony. You don't see those things happening every day. It is kind of like me asking my Grandma to come to the bar with me. That won't happen.
In the car, we all talked about bout the three houses that we visited and we thought we liked the second house out of all of them. Did I mention that the tenants in the first house are renting it again for next year? I don't know why we weren't told this information because then we could've avoided viewing the ShopRite signs and shopping carts since we knew we wouldn't be able to get it. Before you knew it, I was snoring in the back seat.
You have to do what you have to do in order to get the things you want in life. If you don't get up and do something, nothing will happen.
"WAKE UP! Look out the window!" said Jackie to all of us. There was a shooting star right in front of our eyes! That was the coolest thing I had ever seen and it made my day even better. Even though we couldn't decide on a house we wanted for next year, we knew there would be more options and we were going to keep looking anyway. The shooting star was a sign that new beginnings are on its way and we weren't going to give up!
Keep your eyes open or you will miss out on important things happening around you. If you are aware of your surroundings, you will get to see things that you may have never thought you would ever see before.
